Dr. Rachel “Doc Rach” Gafni (she/her)
Medical Director
First Year at Camp: 2006 (Started as Medical Director)
Bit About Me: Doc Rach was born in Philadelphia and some of her best memories as a child come from the 10 summers she spent at sleepaway camp. She attended medical school at Temple University and did her pediatrics residency at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She then moved to Maryland in 1996 to train in pediatric endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health. After completing her training she worked at the University of Maryland Medical Center for five years at which point she decided to return to the NIH, where she has remained since. Doc Rach works tirelessly each year to protect the health of our campers, and she still can’t wait to return to Camp Possibilities each and every year.
Memory: My favorite memories from CP involve interacting with the campers, hearing about their lives, and watching them grow into amazing young adults. And of course, seeing the talent show every year!
