Rachel Herr (she/her)

Head of Art

First Year at Camp: 2004 (Started as a camper)

Bit About Me: When Rachel isn’t at camp, she is a stellar graphic designer based in Pennsylvania where she lives with her husband Nathan. She uses her skills and artistic eye as she combines antique printing practices with modern design and hand-lettering. She loves to be in the kitchen for some cooking and baking, and she says she’s always had a soft spot in her heart for cows. Rachel was named after Jennifer Aniston’s character, Rachel Green, from the infamous Friends television series, which also happens to be her favorite show. She is no stranger to T1D as she was diagnosed when she was just two and a half years old! Also, Rachel would like to settle the debate once and for all: Diet Coke over Diet Pepsi, “hands down!”

Memory: One of my favorite memories with Jeff was actually outside of camp. Jeff had come up to see me play softball and have dinner with my family. I was pitching, there was a runner on third and two outs. I made my pitch, and the batter hit the ball straight to me. I caught the ball, quickly turned in my cleats, and threw her out at first base, ending the inning. I could hear Jeff from the other side of the field cheering. After the game he congratulated my whole team for winning the game. I remember catching up with Jeff at dinner after the game, he couldn't stop talking and re-enacting my catch-and-throw. He had the biggest smile on his face. I will forever hold that memory close to my heart and cherish it deeply. Love you Jeff. <3
